A social worker, facilitator, and community artist with over a decade of experience supporting individuals and communities navigating systemic barriers. My career has spanned low-barrier harm reduction housing in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, supporting children with disabilities in schools, and facilitating youth groups through healthcare organizations.
Early in my career, I discovered that creativity—and especially the joy and performance as my drag persona Eva Lasting—offered a powerful and accessible way to engage people in complex social issues. Events like game nights focused on sexual health education, drag storytimes, and human libraries have blended critical social work values with play, learning, and connection.
After completing a Master of Social Work at the University of British Columbia, I began doctoral studies focused on political polarization. My research explores how community-building practices can foster political plurality, treating the tensions between our differences not as divisions to avoid but as fertile ground for co-creating more inclusive and just futures.
